Milestones

Music played an important role in my parent’s home. I started playing the piano when I was 9 and started with the trumpet when I was 12. Soon afterwards I was playing in ensembles and in a symphonic wind orchestra.

After A levels I studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts majoring in trumpet.

I then started a very busy time playing concerts as a soloist, in ensembles and orchestras.
At the same time my passion for teaching and in particular my special interest in instrumental pedagogical issues led to further education courses dealing with teaching and learning methods and music physiology. I also studied for an additional qualification in rhythmics.

In order to help students release their potential and also to solve mental blocks in learning I decided to train as a child and youth coach.

I have always been on the look out for new ways to teach beginners and in the 90s I developed my own methodology.
In the year 2000 my first book was published “Auf dem Schlauch geht`s auch”, a learning method for pupils with a methodical book for teachers. This was the first ever published early instrumental trumpet instruction tutor.

In 2014 I published the book “Ideenkiste für den Unterricht” a topic which was very close to my heart, a compendium for brass teachers with suggestions and tips and tricks for every day teaching.

I have been teaching at Dr. Hoch`s Conservatory since 1990 and for more than 20 years I have been giving courses for teachers both at home and abroad.
